Thank you for your interest in Maranatha [mar-uh-nath-uh] Baptist Church! "Maranatha" is an Aramaic word meaning "the Lord is coming". Under the difficult conditions of persecution, early Christians comforted one another with this reminder that the Lord would be returning to set up His Kingdom.

"Maranatha!" became the common greeting among believers replacing the Jewish greeting "shalom" ("peace"). Knowing that Christ is coming at any time should affect the way we live our daily lives.
