Good News
No matter what your situation or station in
life, there is
hope for you - now that is indeed good news! As
part of the
human condition, we all struggle with various disappointments,
ailments,
hangups, regrets and all sorts of things that can leave us
feeling hopeless. However, God can change all of that, just
like He's been changing people for centuries!
The Bible tells us about a man named Paul who called himself the "chief of sinners". He was a persecutor of Christians and he did it in the name of his religion. Saul (his name was changed later to Paul) was devoted to his religion and followed all its laws and rituals. Saul's religion taught that because Jesus claimed to be God, He was a blasphemer who deserved to die along with all his followers. To that end, Saul hunted down and killed Christians.
But one day, Saul's life changed forever. He met Jesus while on the road that led to Damascus and Jesus revealed himself to this man as the Son of God who died for the sins of the world - He was the Savior! Saul repented of his sins and found cleansing. What a transformation - from Chief Sinner to Ambassador of Christ; you see, Paul became a missionary and wrote much of the New Testament. The name change signified the dramatic change Christ made in his life. Read about Paul in Acts 9.
Still, there is another person whose story gives us hope for change: The "Woman at the Well". She was scorned by those who knew her, and because of her nationality, as a Samaritan, she was despised by society. The Jewish people had no dealings with Samaritans, yet Christ reached out to this woman in her lonely, marginalized position in in the world. He knew that she had been married to five different husbands and that she was currently in a "live-in" situation with another man.
Jesus Christ was almost assuredly the first man to extend genuine friendship and unconditional love to this woman! He met her where she was, and when she, in repentance, opened her heart to Jesus, she found cleansing and forgiveness. She could not contain her excitement, but ran through the town telling everyone that she had met the Savior! Her change came the only way real change happens - from the inside out.
(John 4:1-42)
There is HOPE for you because He Offers Pardon to Everyone!
There is hope for change in this life and in eternity.
"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." ~1 John 5:13
"These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full." ~ John 15:11
